Henry Flint

" McMahon never let his artwork draw you away from a story, in the same way that a good film allows you to believe the actors are real people.

I dropped 2000AD for a few years (thinking it was for kids and imagining myself a grown-up!) and picked it up again half-way through McMahon's "Sky Chariots" for Slaine. His work had changed, whereas other 2000AD regulars had continued with their same style. The ability to adapt your artistic style to suit a story was something I hadn't seen before.

The key points that I have taken from McMahon's work as a young comics artist learning the trade, are:
1. The balance of black and white. Think of the simplicity of a chess board.
2. Composition of a page, composition of a panel.
3. Story telling which doesn't confuse the reader.
4. Energetic and fun line work."

Henry Flint is one of the most popular artists currently working for 2000AD. His recent work on ABC Warriors was a resounding success.
